What impact does pigment have on the fire-resistant coating of the tunnel in Jiangxi Youlinsheng

 Most consumers perceive paint as merely providing a visual sensation. However, they are unaware of the impact paint has on the fire resistance of tunnel-specific fireproof coatings. Paint is a crucial factor in fireproof coatings, as it not only endows the coating film with color and enhances its decorative appeal, but also improves the performance of the coating film to a certain extent. It has two major performance impacts on Youlinsheng fireproof coatings. Let us explain them to you:

 

Influence 1: The impact of organic pigments on the fire resistance of Jiangxi Youlinsheng fireproof coatings

Commonly used organic pigments include phthalocyanine blue and alcohol-soluble lightfast red pigments. The addition amount of different pigments affects the fire resistance performance of fireproof coatings. When the addition amount of phthalocyanine blue pigment is 1.7%, the corresponding coating can achieve a foaming ratio of 16.34 times. However, the coating film is difficult to level, and the edges warp and are prone to peeling after combustion. When the addition amount of phthalocyanine blue pigment is 2.3% and 2.8%, although the foaming ratio of the corresponding coating is slightly lower, the surface properties of the coating film are much better than when the addition amount of phthalocyanine blue pigment is 1.7%. Therefore, the addition amount of phthalocyanine blue pigment is preferably 2.3% to 2.8%. When the addition amount of alcohol-soluble lightfast red pigment reaches 2.3%, the foaming ratio of the coating reaches a maximum of 11.35 times, and the surface physical properties of the coating film are good.

 

Influence II: The Impact of Inorganic Pigments on the Fire Resistance of Fire-Retardant Coatings

 The inorganic pigments used are all nano-sized transparent iron oxide color pastes (iron brown, iron red, and iron black) and chromium oxide green paste. For coatings containing iron red pigment, the maximum value is achieved when the addition amount is 2.3%, and then it decreases as the pigment addition amount increases. For iron brown pigment, when the addition amount is 2.3%, the foaming ratio of the corresponding coating also reaches a maximum value, and it does not decrease significantly thereafter.

 

Chrome green pigment is an exception. The foaming ratio of the coating consistently increases with the addition of chrome green pigment. When the addition of chrome green pigment is 2.8%, the foaming ratio of the coating reaches more than 1-4 times. However, the foamed layer at this time is uneven and the strength is not high. When the addition of chrome green pigment is 2.3%, the corresponding coating has a better apparent morphology and foaming ratio. After adding iron black pigment, the overall foaming performance of the coating is not high. The foaming ratio of the coating is only about 8 times, which is worse than the other three pigments. This shows that iron black pigment has a significant impact on the fire resistance of the coating.

 

 Ultra-thin structural tunnel fireproof coating refers to steel structure fireproof coating with a coating thickness of 3 mm or less, good decorative effect, ability to expand and foam at high temperatures, and a fire resistance limit generally within 2 hours. This type of steel structure fireproof coating is generally a solvent-based system, featuring superior bonding strength, good weather and water resistance, good leveling, and good decorative properties. When exposed to fire, it slowly expands and foams to form a dense and hard fireproof and heat-insulating layer. This fireproof layer has strong fire resistance impact resistance, delays the temperature rise of steel, and effectively protects steel components. Ultra-thin intumescent steel structure fireproof coating can be applied by spraying, brushing, or rolling, and is generally used on building steel structures with a fire resistance limit requirement within 2 hours. New varieties of ultra-thin steel structure fireproof coating with fire resistance performance reaching or exceeding 2 hours have emerged. It is mainly made of a special structure of polymethacrylate or epoxy resin compounded with amino resin, chlorinated paraffin, etc. as the base binder, supplemented by high-polymerization degree ammonium polyphosphate, dipentaerythritol, melamine, etc. as the fire retardant system, and added with titanium dioxide, wollastonite, and other inorganic refractory materials, compounded with 200# solvent oil as the solvent. Various light steel structures, grid structures, etc. often use this type of tunnel fireproof coating for fire protection.
