In order to overcome the shortcomings of fire prevention in the practical application of steel structure materials, fire prevention treatment must be carried out, with the aim of raising the fire resistance limit of steel structures to the limit range specified in the design specifications. According to the fireproof coating editor, there are various measures to prevent steel structures from rapidly heating up and deforming during a fire. The key is to adopt different methods according to different situations, such as using insulation and refractory materials to block flames and directly burn steel structures, reducing the speed of heat transfer and delaying the time for steel structure temperature rise and strength weakening. But no matter what method is adopted, the principle remains the same. Below, fireproof material manufacturers will introduce several different fire protection measures for steel structures.
1、 Outsourcing layer. It is to add an outer layer on the surface of the steel structure, which can be cast in situ or sprayed. The cast-in-place solid concrete outer layer is usually reinforced with steel wire mesh or steel bars to limit shrinkage cracks and ensure the strength of the shell. The fireproof coating spraying method can apply a sand pump to the surface of steel structures on the construction site to form a protective layer. The sand pump can be lime cement or gypsum mortar, or mixed with perlite or asbestos. At the same time, the outer layer can also be made of perlite, asbestos, gypsum, asbestos cement, or lightweight concrete to form prefabricated panels, which are fixed to the steel structure using adhesives, nails, and bolts.
2、 Filling water (water jacket) inside hollow steel structures is an effective protective measure against fires. This method can keep the steel structure at a lower temperature during a fire, circulate water inside the steel structure, and absorb the heat generated by the material itself. The heated water can be recycled after cooling, or cold water can be introduced through pipelines to replace the heated water.
3、 Shielding. Steel structures are installed in walls or ceilings composed of refractory materials, or components are enclosed in the gaps between two walls. As long as a small amount of refractory materials are added or not added, the purpose of fire prevention can be achieved. This is an economical fire prevention method.
4、 Expansion material. The use of Jiangxi Youlinsheng fireproof coating to protect components has the advantages of good fire insulation performance, construction not limited by the geometric shape of steel structures, and generally does not require the addition of auxiliary facilities. The coating is lightweight and has a certain aesthetic decorative effect, which belongs to modern advanced fire prevention technology measures.

The brush coating method can easily penetrate into the fine pores of the metal surface, thus enhancing the adhesion to the metal surface. The disadvantages are low production efficiency, high labor intensity, and sometimes brush marks on the surface of the coating, which affect the decorative properties of the coating.
The construction method of using compressed air and spray gun to atomize the coating is characterized by the uniform coating quality and high production efficiency of fireproof coating after spraying. The disadvantage is that some of the paint is lost, and due to the large evaporation of solvents, it affects the health of the operator. The key equipment for air spraying is the spray gun. Spray guns are usually divided into three types based on the coating supply method: gravity type, suction type, and pressure delivery type, and are further divided into two categories based on spraying capacity: small and large. The viscosity of the coating is high and requires high air pressure. The nozzle should be selected with a large diameter; The viscosity of the coating is low and requires low pressure.
